ZOMG GUNS!! The press reactions
Do lax gun laws make us unsafe? No. Colorado has some of the toughest in the country post-Columbine. And a mass shooting still occurred.
Why would anyone take the NYT seriously on guns?
Gun sales up after mass shooting for fear of gun control. At least that one is true.

What’s so tough about Colorado’s gun laws? Besides Boulder County, it’s an open carry state. I don’t live there, but I travel there on business and I haven’t become aware of anything different VS Texas.

Yeah, all this Brouhaha has done has made those Weekend Warriors at the Gun Show jack up their Prices on Hi-Cap Mags because “OBAMA IS ABOUT TO BAN THEM! BUY NOW!”

Fear of more gun laws, maybe. And maybe more people are coming to understand the utility of armed self defense.

Um… I live in Colorado and don’t think our firearms laws are very restrictive at all.
We’re a shall-issue state for CCW permits.
Municipalities may not pass gun laws that counter state law.
We are both open-carry (outside Denver) and CCW legal.
No “assault-weapon” restrictions (outside the city of Denver).
We’re the home of RMGO and NAGR.
We have a very active competition community.
…and on and on.
Our laws are very friendly to citizen gun ownership.
Like most other states, our crime laws are strict and well-defined, but we are FAR from having “very tight gun laws.”

According to John Lott, author of “More Guns, Less Crime”, based upon facts and data, ALL EXCEPT ONE of the mulitple victim murders involving 3 or more people since WWII until this one in Aurora, CO, occured in a place where guns were not allowed. Yet the reactionary solution is to continue gun-free zones and have more citizen disarmament. That is utter madness!!

“Municipalities may not pass gun laws that counter state law.”
Apparently, they do so anyway.
