For a small EDC flashlight, check out the Zebralight SC600W. Its 4.22 inches long and 1.2 in diameter. It is waterproof to a depth of 6 meters for 30 minutes. It has adjustable levels of brightness with Turbo mode at 645Lm OTF (for 5 minutes), High 430Lm for 2 hours, Medium 56Lm for 18 hours and Low 2.4Lm for 280 hours. Runs on one 18650 battery. Retails for $95. Can’t say enough good things about this light.
If you were to light this one up on turbo in a movie theater everyone in the room would go blind!
I know the 18650 maybe a drawback for some, but after using a dozen of them for the last several years, they are really great. I even recharge them via my solar panel.
Read the blogs and web articles, and when I started carrying concealed, I also put on a flashlight (in my case a Surefire). I don’t always carry a gun (like right now, ‘cuz I’m slacking in Kalifornistan..:-( but I ALWAYS have that light. 123 batteries last a long time, and the price is reasonable if you buy ’em in quantity.
I carry it on every airline flight, out to dinner, etc. – and I’ve been the hero more than once when the lights went out, wife dropped an earring in the parking lot, etc. TSA has never hassled me, tho the plastic holster does get their attention (I suspect they initially think it’s tear gas).
