Organized suppressor competitions
Or, you know, don’t limit their use in other competitions. The rise of suppressors is good and onerous laws restricting the safety equipment should be repealed.

The problem is that most competitions that use shot timers won’t trigger with suppressed weapons, especially with suppressed 22’s. There isn’t enough sound signature to actually trigger the timer consistently. They work sometimes, but not others.
It’s possible to correct that, of course, but it will mean anteing up for new timers with new software.

Bill that’s hardly a “problem”. Use different timers, use a different style of timing, whatever.
An actual issue is that suppressed weapons like centerfire handguns are large and unwieldy. I can not holster my suppressed 9 and 45s. Even holstering a suppressed 22 can be quite difficult. Rifles no are no big deal, but the idea of shooting from the sol position or a compressed ready are for some reason scarey to a bunch of gamers.

Other Steve,
Its a problem to most clubs I know, who have several thousand dollars invested in their timers.
True, the cost of replacing the timers is low compared to what is on the starting line with a good lineup of suppressors, but most clubs I am aware of struggle to make equipment upgrades as it is.
As I said, it can be done, but there is a price.
