The stippling and forward slide serrations actually seem practical, but the lightning cuts and top serrations are just there to be flashy.
It strikes me that it would have been more practical to just fit a nice threaded barrel instead of cutting huge chunks out of the slide…
Also, that front sight is WAY too delicate; if you REALLY need a fiber-optic front sight, you want something with a resin overmold like this: http://www.hivizsights.com/products/handgun-sights/smith-wesson/sw2007.html

It’s pretty.
But moreso it really tickles my giggle-gland to see the works outta the box Cool-aide-Gun tarted up like a Wilson 1911.
Not that the M&P isn’t a good gun (though I do loath the staple and all the crap the forward pin secures), but seeing it like this does give a bit of humor.
