If there’s one thing I know from reading the news
It’s that anyone who points a gun at their head to prove it’s safe is wrong.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.

“One round was hidden in the chamber…”
A very tragic event, but I don’t think the round was hiding.

Very sad story.

Never trust a mechanical device like a mag safety, but can’t you demonstrate it’s safe by aiming it at something a little less valuable than your head? Don’t you learn anything about firearms at farkin WEST POINT?

Evilwrench, you might be shocked at the absence of firearms experience at the military academies. Other than the locked-down air, smallbore, shotgun, and pistol NCAA teams, they are zero-tolerance gun-free zones, even moreso than other universities.
I do not understand the statement that the cadet had moved off-campus. This, of course, is never allowed. There is some major detail that the news story missed, not that such a thing could ever happen.

Another case of terminal stupidity.

Magazine disconnects provide false sense of security while handling firearms! We must ban them…for the childrens!
