In DC, they trust tourists more than citizens
No, they just want the tourist dollars:
Under pressure from Congress and the public, D.C. officials are moving to ease one of the least defensible of their anti-gun ordinances. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson, also the Judiciary Committee’s chairman, held a hearing Monday on his proposal to decriminalize possession of a gun or ammunition for nonresidents.
Interesting. It is one of the reasons I don’t visit DC. The bill gives the AG discretion in charging for these cases.

Tourist AND commuters.

AG discretion?
Woo, May Issue style law enforcement.
Don’t worry, you won’t be charged if you have connections. That’ll make the head of Media Matters and the other anti-gunners in DC feel better.

Dont want to be the test case for that…

Isn’t that a bit redundant? Prosecutors already have the option to not charge anyone they want, for any reason – including the prosecutor’s personal perception of “fairness” or “justice”. It’s called “prosecutorial discretion“, and there are few (if any) options to challenge that outside of challenging him in an election.

INAL, but wasn’t this the reason the Firearm Owners Protection Act was passed? (“It’s legal where I came from, it’s legal where I’m going, so it’s legal while in transit.”)
Wonder how many years of foot-dragging this particular “improvement” is going to take.

There are many, many other wonderful reasons not to visit the Nation’s Capitol.

rickn8or – That was the “Some Firearms Owners Protection Act”. Did nothing for those that wanted to own domestically produced machine guns.

No, it’s not tourists they fear, it’s VOTERS! If people from all over this great nation try to go to our capitol and run afoul of the byzantine policies, they’ll realize how completely bonkers D.C’s gun control scheme is and they’ll VOTE / tell their representatives to VOTE. THIS is what the D.C. bureaucrats fear.

It may be that DC local government does not respect tourists and commuters more, they just know their own citizens better.
