Samsung sues Apple
For the same reason Apple just sued them. Seems to me that with phones, once you come out with a new thing that it’s going to get copied.

I just wish they would come out with a phone, that works. I have a cellphone. The thing is, when I go uptown, it don’t work. No signal. It is not my phone. Therefore, I do not need a new one. Why would a new cellphone be better. I don’t take a lot of pictures. We don’t need new phones.

To be fair (and point out something the linked story fails to mention), this is not really anything new. They’re just adding the iPhone 5 to the current lawsuit that covers the iPhone 4s, etc., because the iPhone 5 uses the same features they were already suing over.

Patents no longer really do their job in protecting inventor’s rights, (if they ever did, look-up “cotton gin” sometime), instead corporations collect and stockpile patent portfolios. Sometime small bankrupt companies get bought just for the value of their patents.
The idea is that a collection of patents prevent lawsuits by other monied corporations as a sort of “mutually assured destruction”
If this is the first salvo on the patent wars, the only winners will be the fscking lawyers.
