In Baltimore, MD, the celebratory gunfire on the 4th of July and especially on New Year’s Eve was quite notable.
You could count 6 bangs for revolvers, and 15 or 17 for Glocks, and double blasts for the dove shotguns. At least in my neighborhood. An electric company lineman I knew said transformers and electrical wires had an almost magical ability to attract bullets shot by drunken people. I suppose that attraction exists worldwide.

Rule One.
My only “celebratory gunfire” has consisted of firing a wad of tissue into the air, when there is snow on the ground to prevent a brush fire, using a charge of black powder. Technically that is a violation of Rule One. So sue me.

The quote, attributed to science fiction writer Robert Anson Heinlein: “Ignorance is its own death sentence.”
Moreover, please don’t jump on me for being ‘insensitive.’
It utterly sickens me that children die because their parents are absolutely incapable of behaving like responsible adults… but in a situation like that, the only really sensible thing one can do is get to hard cover as fast as one can sprint.
