I inherited a 27-2 3.5 inch barrel from my father, with the target trigger/hammer and square butt. I believe it is from the late 70’s Beautiful 357. Really makes you want to pistol whip someone with it.
I’ve owned pre-lock S&W Model 10s, and I currently have a lovely stainless .357 3″ 5 shot J-frame which has had the key in its lock exactly once in 5 years, on the day I bought it.
I can’t really fault the company for avoiding expense and losses back in the Clinton years, but other than avoiding lawsuits, this adding to the complexity of a device for near-zero added utility is never a good idea.
I own one Smith revolver, bought by my cousin when Clinton was still in high school. It’s a beauty, model 15 combat masterpiece. I really wouldn’t want anything else they make besides revolvers. I’m just not in the market for a wheel gun.
S&W had ample chance to disavow their “deal with the devil”, after the Brits sold and while George W. would certainly have forgiven it. They dropped the ball on that and until they do disavow it, I’ll buy no more S&W products that were made since Bangor Punta caved.

There’s no better gun than the Model 27, toss up with the Model 19.

Ditto on the 19, and the 27. 357 is a Very good round. 9mm can be just as hot, but TFS did it better. So did .38 super.

Dang it, HL, you and me we’re always arguing. Don’t you dare dirty that wonderful gun with hair cream. Just shoot the *******.
