Unpossible
A shooting at a mall. It’s illegal to carry a gun in Illinois Indiana*. It’s illegal for a teenager to own a handgun. And there’s no such thing as a “a large caliber .762”.
* Geography, I don’t know my way around yankeeland. Turns out, this was Indiana.

Said it was a Russian made gun as well, could they have meant something like a Draco AK-47? Those are rather larger for concealing however.

I believe it was probably a Tokarev. Other articles haven’t had the high caliber part :eyeroll: And point of order, Hobart is in Indiana.

Oh right, completely forgot about 7.62×25. Yeah that seems more likely.

A large caliber .762 would be a 12 gauge wouldn’t it?

On a side note, thugs in Illinois use Tokarevs? Maybe it was a CZ 52…

I can actually imagine a small market in Tokarevs from people who have read on the Internet that they will shoot through bullet proof vests.

We really need to have a program to give these thugs some range time, call it an evolution of the needle exchange program. If these guys could shoot we’d have fewer thugs and more innocent by-standers.

Geography fail.
Be advised that Hobart, Indiana is still in Indiana. South of Gary, Lake County, Indiana.

It is not illegal to carry a pistol in a mall in Indiana. It is illegal to pull it out and discharge it into the ceiling like a rap video.

From Yankeeland: The Hobart Chamber of Commerce thanks you for your correction and . . . oh, wait, actually the Chamber of Commerce wishes you thought this happened in Illinois, nevermind.

I remember reading a comment by a cop (LA area gang specialist with LAPD SWAT experience, IIRC) who prosed a truly effective gun buy back program.
For every serviceable rifle, shotgun, or pistol you turn in in, you get a .380ACP MAC11 — perhaps the most uncontrollable machinepistol ever built that can be made cheaply. Only one mag per gun, though.
Not only would they end up hitting fewer people, the ammo budget would bankrupt them a la Reagan vs. the USSR.

A .762 pistol would indeed be a large bore, something akin to a “Howdah” pistol. Glad that sucker wasn’t pointed at anyone!
And I’m guessing a Tokarev as well. They are relatively cheap and relativelt inaccurate, a perfect thug gun!

Not yet drunk, but I am trying my best, so…. Caliber is a moot point. Anyone who walks into a mall and starts killing randomly, is in my mind, feeble as it is, PE #1. I don’t care why, because I don’t have time to care why. I need to be able to kill the person who wants to change the way that I, myself, perceive my existence. IE, should I be alive, or, dead. BTW, .762 is .30 caliber. Until you turn it sideways.
