Liberties only for those I approve of
In a country where there are actual disenfranchised communities who need more liberties — like immigrants and the GLBT community — it is laughable to say that gun owners need more liberties.
Yes, because these other classes don’t have enough liberties, we shouldn’t focus on the liberties of those people I don’t like.

It amazes me how many times the word “illegal” is left off in any phrase describing immigrant “rights”.
Real immigrants – the ones who do it the right way – aren’t “disenfranchised” (that word they keep saying….), they are fully able to participate in society.

Who’s to say that the rights of immigrants and the LGBT community can’t also be the right to keep and bear arms? As a 1st generation (more like 1.5, born in Korea grew up in the states since I was 2) immigrant who naturalized (via parent) to a citizen I see how many immigrants (especially those that run their own business) could need the ownership of a firearm.
As for the LGBT community, there are a lot of gay bashers obviously. Some may and have gone as far as intending bodily harm to their victims, all I gotta say to that is “Keep Calm and Carry a Gun”

Given the quality of the rest of the piece, the author almost certainly was thinking about illegal immigration, but there are a number of pathways to citizenship that require you to be a legal resident of the United States for a good few years before receiving full citizenship, Rustmeister.

She’s also bought into the memes of self esteem/paranoia and compensating for the size of one’s sexually distinguishing parts. Like, if I OCed a longer tape measure on my tool belt than someone else it could only be because of my tiny wiener. She seems to be following the format of what she sees as “smart” from the benighted media.

maybe if we planted more liberty trees, we’d get a bigger harvest every year, and could alleviate her concerns about the supply of fresh liberty.

The US treats immigrants — particularly illegal immigrants — better than their countries of origin treat their citizens.

You don’t have liberties. You either have liberty or you don’t.
