Back to a wall, clear view of the entire room, clear visible path to the exit. Wife and child always wait for me to sit before they choose. It’s not uncommon for me to walk right past a table chosen by a host or hostess and sit at one more to my liking. 23 years (so far) of conditioning from working in prison is hard to undo.
