The burden tobacco carries is that it is a harmful substance, addictive, with no benefits to its use. The industry has been forced to pay ridiculous sums to the government for the privilege of continued sales to the public, on the premise the penalties paid will help pay for the health costs of tobacco and education to reduce its use.
Firearms have multiple benefits to ownership and use, and I will not assume guilt or financial responsibility for criminal acts with a gun by someone else, despite the anti-gunners desire to paint me and all other gun owners as equally guilty, insane, and predatory as the spree killer in Newtown.
