Reflections on Newtown
Former Rep. Maggart has a piece at the NYT on how the NRA targeted her in the primary for her stance on the guns in parking lots bill. I thought it was mostly The Tennessee Firearms Association that lead that charge.
The rest of us think it’s cool: 21 Vintage Gun Ads That Will Make You Wince
The anti-gun people who say the AR-15 isn’t a hunting rifle should try convincing the deer in my freezer. I was surprised to see this in the local paper.
You’ll recall he went and broke DC gun laws on national TV by possessing a regular capacity AR magazine on the air where they are illegal, while clamoring for more gun laws. Well, seems he’s being investigated for it. Good. Felony charge and let him live under the laws he proposes.
However, I don’t expect much. You’ll recall when I went on about the Boston Globe’s Steve Bailey writing an article in which, if the events occurred as he alleged, meant he broke gun laws. He and his counterpart, John Rosenthal, backtracked quickly which meant either the article was bullshit or they were criminals. They were “investigated” too but nothing ever came of it. I won’t hold my breath here.
So, forget about the political posts. Merry Christmas to all of you!
Looks like it. Possession of that is illegal there. But a few localities have exemptions for dramatic purposes and show business. Not sure if DC does. He does seem rather fascinated by a box with a spring in it.
Also, he’s a hypocrite. Seems he criticized LaPierre for wanting armed guards in schools. But sends his kids to a school with armed guards.
With the holidays, the blog updates will be sporadic. You’ve been warned. On the plus side in terms of content, I have a lot of stuff I need to mention on here for tax purposes so there’s that.
And I put that on here to see if my tax guy is reading.
In the last 50 years, no kid has died in a school fire. Why? Well: … you try to prepare for violence — the thing much more likely to kill our kids in schools, the thing hundreds of times more likely to kill our kids in schools — and people think you’re paranoid. They think you’re crazy. …They’re in denial
So, this Piers Morgan person likes to cut people off after asking questions and retorting with ‘You’re an Unbelievably Stupid Man, Aren’t You?’ instead of, you know, making his case. It’s to be expected. Pratt handled it well and I thought laughing at Morgan and his hysterics was a good move. Dismiss lunacy outright. But MSJ answers his questions and points out those silly knives from Where Great Britain Used To Be.
And, you know, Piers Morgan is the paragon of journalistic integrity.

The Brady Campaign’s new ad riddled with lies as well.
Some thoughts from Sebastian. And PDB weighs in. Both in the ‘good news / bad news’ format.
Remember how that crazy NRA wanted armed guards in every school? Well, so does a New Jersey town. Meanwhile, Senator Boxer wants the National Guard in schools.
Diane Feinstein proposes gun confiscation. Cuomo says confiscation could be an option. Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them all in. Well, come and get them.
A newer, just as useless assault weapons ban proposed in CT, which already had one. And didn’t stop a shooting. A 50% tax on ammo and a ban on online ammo sales too.
Hey, let’s ban knives too!
PA governor says no to gun control.
Mayors Against Guns says Demand a Plan. Remind your mayor that Bloomy is signing his/her name to these things.
If you’re going to advocate gun controls, it helps to know what you’re talking about: … banning assault rifles or limiting high-capacity ammunition, …. Layers of editorial oversight.
I’m a gun owner and a conservative but …
The assault weapons ban did no good but we should pass one anyway because GUNS! More of the same.
Make the NRA accountable for the actions of gun owners. Just like the AARP should be held accountable every time an old person confuses the gas for the brake.

Confusing cause and effect: How Walmart Helped Make the Newtown Shooter’s AR-15 the Most Popular Assault Weapon in America. No, it already was the most popular rifle in America, that’s why they started selling them.

I’m glad the world didn’t end. But, hey, the day’s not over.
Caught bits and pieces on the radio. Here’s the transcript. Said there shouldn’t be more gun control but we should have armed police at schools. I agree with the former but not so much the latter. Not one of Wayne’s best speeches.
Coverage here.
Here you go. It’s a show. Also, Reid punts on gun control.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
