Michigan governor folds
A bill expanding concealed carry rights has been vetoed because school shooting!
A bill expanding concealed carry rights has been vetoed because school shooting!
This theme continues.
And more.
Accusations that some loosely defined group is out to kill them.
Calls for murdering of children and bonus misogyny.
And more.
No wonder they don’t want you armed. They think you think like them.
I don’t have an issue with armed teachers. Arming them, not a fan of. But, in TN, there’s a proposal to do that:
A member of the Republican-controlled legislature plans during its upcoming session to introduce a bill that would allow the state to pay for secretly armed teachers in classrooms so, the sponsor told TPM, potential shooters don’t know who has a gun and who doesn’t.
And a bill in VA to require some to be armed.
My objection to these aside, I also don’t think it’s good PR for gun rights.
Update: Their website is getting hammered, here’s their facebook link. Or, getting my copy and paste on:
The NRA is made up of four million moms and dads, sons and daughters – and we were shocked, saddened and heartbroken by the news of the horrific and senseless murders in Newtown. Out of respect for the families, and as a matter of common decency, we have given time for mourning, prayer and a full investigation of the facts before commenting. The NRA is prepared to offer meaningful contributions to help make sure this never happens again.
No, really. Not very helpful, guys. And they cranked up their PMAGs to $60.

Update: May be a distribution issue since their suppliers are running low on inventory. And CTD probably drop ships most things.
On their social media sites. And not making any press appearances. I’m guessing that, unlike they’re political opponents, it’s out of respect for the dead.
But I don’t know that it’s good marketing. Of course, it could be because they’re in fear for their lives.
In light of the shooting, I suppose a lot of people are having some sort of PR-motivated, misplaced feeling of guilt. Or they’re making projections about the market that haven’t historically been accurate. To wit:
Cerberus to sell gunmaker Freedom Group after shootings. Seems a teachers’ union is threatening to pull its funds.
Discovery Channel cancels hit “American Guns” after the shooting. Because, you know, showing lawful activity on TV is bad.
NBC sports network to cancel “3 Gun Nation”.
And I’ve heard mutterings, but no confirmation, that “Sons of Guns” might be getting axed too.
A company that makes FFL software thought a no gun sales day would be a good idea. They’ve changed their mind.
And Dick’s Sporting goods has decided to step selling the most popular rifle in the US. Doesn’t seem like that’s a smart business move.
A bunch of weak-willed ninnies, if you ask me.
For a while there, we were winning the good fight because of the exposure to the shooting sports on reality TV. We’ll see if that can continue.
The U.S. Already Had a Conversation About Guns—and the Pro Side Won. There’s this whole mythology that we’d have all these gun laws and unicorns and lollipops if it weren’t for that dastardly NRA. Except that, you know, the NRA is only powerful because of its member base, much like the AARP. It’s a big voting block and the people that make it up, generally, are representative of most people.
How Do We Know an ‘Assault Weapon’ Ban Would Not Have Stopped Adam Lanza? Because It Didn’t. I think I’ve hardly seen mention of that fact in the press.
Related, making all guns assault weapons.
the “Murder your mother and steal her guns,” loophole. There ought to be a law. Oh, wait.
Lots of people calling for NRA members to be shot, killed and general violence. Way to show your commitment to stopping gun violence.
Democrat Party office holder says solution to gun violence is to “shoot” NRA members
NRA A rated Democrat calls for ban on the most popular rifle in the country
Lifelong NRA member, Sen. Manchin, does the same thing.
Harry Reid signals he may be up for gun laws to hit the senate floor. Remember back when I said that NRA not endorsing him could be bad. Well, there you go.
Getting word that the NRA building is on alert due to death threats against the staff there from protesters. Anyone heard anymore about that?
Also, if true, not a good way to get your message about violence out there, protesters.
I’ve read that the shooter used an AR-15 in the shootings. And I’ve read that AR was in the car and he used pistols. Anyone got a definitive answer?
The CT police say they may arrest anyone who spread false information about the school shooting. Well, here’s a good place to start. Book ’em.
In light of recent events, I suppose we shall see. I have been surprised by one thing, though. It’s that any conversation that suggests control has been dismissed outright anywhere I’ve seen it.
Seems gun control needs a marketing change. So, they’ll peddle the same lies and misconceptions only they’ll call it ‘gun safety’. It reminds me that, a bit back, some liberal paper (the Washington Post, IIRC) was having an online chat, taking questions and it featured a ‘gun safety’ expert, who was just some anti-gun shill. A bunch of gun guys asked the idiot questions like “is it safe to shoot +p+ ammo in my S&W K-frame?”
Business Insider: Housing, health care, and education cost the average family 75 percent of their discretionary income in the 2000s. The comparable figure in 1973: 50 percent.
Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
