We must ban toy guns

Here in Texas supposedly about 40 people a year manage to kill themselves using non-gunpowder firearms such as CO2 pellet guns, according to a news article.
While I am appalled that the numbers might be that high if the report is accurate, I am also amazed that it is possible to kill oneself with a pellet gun, having been shot with such pellets and BBs many times by my brothers during my early years.

Link, mikee? Interesting. Just “Non-powder” would include the Air Force, Anschutz, Steyr, and the bison-dropping Quackenbush. There ought to be a separate column for those.

Apparently, that too was another “gun control” failure:

From the article: “In 2007, 2008 and 2009, a total of 124 people, including 23 children and teenagers aged 18 and younger, were killed in Texas from accidents involving BB guns, pellet guns and other types of firearms that do not use gunpowder, according to data supplied by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Those figures do not include deaths stemming from police confrontations with people armed with air pistols. No agency tracks the frequency of those shootings.”

Yeah, I know, it is the NY Times, and therefore suspect, but they are using figures from Texas, so I give them the benefit of the doubt and presume they aren’t completely wrong.
