I’ve been buying additional magazines and ammunition for the past two years. It amuzes me that so many people failed to plan ahead and now are engaged in the panic buying of over-priced items.
Yeah, I’m much more concerned about Ammo than the Guns themselves. But I’m lucky in that I have a Friend who’s a Professional Reloader.
BTW. True Story Time. My Buddy the Surplus Dealer had a customer walk into the Store yesterday. Young Guy, about mid-20s was looking for AR Mags. My friend has some Surplus. They got to haggling, and he found out the Customer already had about 50. My friend asked how much Ammo he had, and did he need some more. The guy said “Oh, I’ve got one full mag, and I’ll just use the Cops Ammo to fill up the rest.” After a long pause, my Friend said, “Well, were you ever in the Military? Or do you belong to a Rifle Club?” The guy said, “No, in fact the AR is my FIRST GUN, and I’ve never even Shot it.” Another long pause, then my Buddy said “You know, I can always use the Money, but I think you need this more than Magazines.” He walked over to the Target Section, got out a pack of Reduced Range Military Targets, and handed it to the Guy. He said “there’s 3 Ranges within an hour of here that you can use to Practice. As a Vet who did 3 Tours in Iraq, I want you to spend money on Ammo and Practice, and quit wasting Cash on Empty Mags.” The guy got Pissed and left.
Hopefully, that Guy doesn’t end up on the News, shooting up a School.
“My problem is that I have enough ammo, but if I continue to shoot it, I won’t.”
Exactly. There is no “enough” of ammo, or mags, but there must be some kind of balance. Thirty rounds of ammo and fifty mags is beyond nonsense. Especially if you’ve never fired your weapon…
