Your comment struck a chord with me. I recall desegregation of the schools in the 1960s, and women’s rights in the 70s and leftist terrorists in the 1980s. All those were examples of the private sector using individual to individual oppression of civil rights.
That is unthinkable today. The government has assumed so much power that even oppression of rights has been taken out of private hands. Oppression has been taken over by the government, along with everything else they could grab.
