Self-righteous, political song lyrics that are stupid
Rage Against the Machine’s Down Rodeo
Yeah I’m rollin’ down Rodeo with a shotgun
These people ain’t seen a brown skin man
Since their grandparents bought one
Yes, no one in California has seen a brown skinned man. And, you know, California being the slave stat that it was . . . oh, wait. Or did a bunch of southerners move there? Those southerner’s grandparents probably weren’t around during the slave days. Just sayin’.

In California, they just truck off the Japanese to camps and burn down the china towns… they didn’t need any southerners for that.

People still listen to them? They’re still together? Sad.

Agree with you, but i’m curious. What made you think of a 17 year old song?

I agree with you but I have to ask, what made you think of a 17 year old song?

the funny thing is, that’s not even the stupidest lyric that rage against the machine’s ever had. these lyrics from their song “Darkness of Greed” confirmed for me they were ridiculous…
‘AIDS is killing the entire African nation
And a vaccine is still supposedly under preparation
But these governments they don’t mind the procrastination
They say ‘We’ll kill them off, take their land and go there for vacation’ “

It came on when I was flipping radio stations.

Funny how a few “white nappy headed ho’s” can make millions telling us about their white guilt. They raged against a machine that they now enjoy watching run smoothly, most times they provide the oil for the gears to turn …… hypocritical race baiters. I liked their music, not the lyrics.

Tom Morello’s best work isn’t with RATM but in film. He did some amazing work in the cave escape scene from Iron Man. I could watch the first 8 seconds of this clip all day long.

Music is opiate for the masses.
March 1st, 2013 at 11:48 am
Oh, there’s nothing like being lectured on the evils of capitalism by someone who gets pissy if you download their music without paying for it.
I’m with the others – RATM is generally cool music, the lyrics are infantile in their comprehension of economics and politics.

RATM are die hard socialists and anti capitalists. They’ll even sell you a bunch of t-shirts that say that.
BTW, the net worth today of the lead singer of RATM is around 25 million bucks. I’m sure if anyone tried to distribute his wealth to the masses, he’d be OK with that, right? I mean, otherwise he’s just a hypocritical lying POS….
Oh, wait….

A Shotgun? I thought Finestein said that only ASSAULT RIFLES were used in Drive-Bys.

Morello is generally overrated as a guitarist (mostly, he makes noise), but I actually like the music. Sure, the lyrics are political nonsense, but I’ve yet to find any music artists who weren’t complete idiots when they try to tackle serious subjects. I prefer his work with Audioslave to that with RATM.

“Music is opiate for the masses.”
I think you’ll find that opium is the opiate of the masses.

C’mon man…the masses can’t afford that shit. But they can all groove to some tunes.

At least rage is more thought provoking than what gets blasted over the air waves. For me, they turned me on as early as junior high to the corruption inherhent in governments around the world. That was a great awakening, but I’m sure we don’t a agree on the same solutions to the problem.
Rage also seems fairly upset with both parties, saying the last 11, presidents including the current one could be charged for war crimes. Who knows how there music could of matured if they stayed together.

I quit giving a shit about RATM after watching the video of them stirring one of the National Conventions into a riot, jumping on their bus and leaving.
Yeah, you’re a real man of the people. Sure, whatever.
