Why Public Opinion is Shifting on Gay Marriage (And Why It Isn’t on Gun Control)
Young people like their guns and gay marriage. And no generation gap on guns. Well, gun control is an old white man’s game. Or something.

Part of it is the successful, lie begun by the Right, that marriages are created by government, i.e., you are not “married” without a license. That was corrupted by the same sex marriage crowd under the guise of “marriage equality”.
What it all really is about is the 1138 (and climbing) perks that come with a marriage license that is recognized by the feds: http://austriananarchy.blogspot.com/2013/03/1138-reasons-why-government-should-get.html
Note that the “marriage equality” crowd, even those who argued for “all couples” before SCOTUS completely ignore the actual history of marriage anyway. It never was “couples only” at any time in history, even today. It only became (hetero) couples only when MA started licensing marriage, according to Puritan traditions, in the 1600s.
Today no USA gay couple is getting thrown in jail and they are not getting their property taken by governments. The polygamists are getting that treatment.
The “same sex marriage” advocates use the same couples only wording, and even dismissed the overt federal bigotry towards traditional Mormons. For some reason, the “marriage equality” crowd cannot manage to formulate an argument that advocates equality, and it can’t be due to a shortage of English majors in their movement. It has everything to do with them being wed to the licenses.
If they wanted true marriage equality, they would be advocating marriage licenses for everybody who plopped down $100, and I mean everybody. Or they would be advocating an end to the licensing scheme, which would also end the 1138 goodies that come with the license.

I had to plop down $100 for my carry license, but there were a lot of conditions attached. No ‘everybody’ there.

The last two paragraphs talk about the importance of who you know n forming opinions. The examples they give are the number of people who know gay people, versus the number of people who know victims of gun violence. But the real question is, how many people know gun *owners*?

Laura. That’s why Publocola nailed it on the head when he said:
“That is why laws prohibiting transfers are a staple of most of the gun owner control packages we’ve seen this year; they want us to stop spreading our values and way of life. A culture is much harder to eradicate if it’s continually growing ya know.”

Gay “marriage” is absurd on its face. There is a categorical and definitional error there. Marriage exists for the production and protection of children, and preservation of family property.
