If you run, you must be guilty of something. Right?
Hot pursuit of a jaywalker…
“22-year-old officer Justin Ferrari” was a character in my novel, but no one found it believable. We went with “Lance de Tomaso” instead. And the Comtessa Bizzarrini.
I find no problem with what the cops did. They gave chase as required. The idiot must of STOPPED RUNNING just as the car came upon him and then… dang got ran over.
Running for the police carries risk. He risked having an accident in his car and killing others. He risked the lives of people walking down the road. And yes he risked his life.
If you read to the end of the story, you can figure out what happened. He was running away and came to a fence. He was either trapped or tried to climb it, and the cop just ran him down, along with the fence.
I’m sure the officer was acting in accordance with established procedures.

One time when the pretext traffic stop worked better than the cop thought it would.
