I own a beautiful Hi Power that punches x’s all day long, straight out of the box. The trigger is decent, no better, but it shoots to point of aim. There are arguments for and against the mag disconnect, tactically, but I would prefer it without this “feature”. From a safety standpoint, nothing improves safety better than keeping your finger outside of the trigger guard and off the trigger. On a couple of occasions when my 1911 was at the smithy, I carried the Browning and felt very well armed.
I’ve got a box-stock ’73 vintage Belgian Browning Hi Power. It shoots better than I can, even with the vestigial sights.
I’d love to be able to hand it to Cylinder & Slide with a spare couple of thousand in cash and say “Make it perfect!” but it’s pretty damned good just the way it is.
