Be sure of your target

A Carroll County jury awarded a couple $175,000 after they claimed that dozens of bullets from a neighboring gun range riddled their home over a 10-year period.

    TEN YEARS!?

    They are saints.

There would have been major lawsuits and TV coverage in the first year if it had been me.

Be interesting to know a few more details. Distance between the house and the range. Who was in the area first – the range or the home. Were they certain the rounds came from the range or is there an adjacent hunting area. We had a similar dust up with a neighbor to our local range. He took a .45 cal round in a garage door. He build the home 15 years AFTER the range was built. I finally proved the round could not have come from our gun range – angle of penetration, depth of penetration, distance from the final berm, angle of incidence with respect to the pistol range – wonder if that type of investigation was done in this case. We did tighten up some range rules, but once we proved the round could not have come from our range, our neighbor was happy.

From looking at a google maps view, the nearest house behind the range is less than 1/10th of a mile from the shooting position.

If accurate, I’m surprised it took that long, yes – and surprised that the range didn’t take action sooner to prevent recurrence.

(Interesting that the report doesn’t include so much as a “would not comment” from the range…)

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
