Many years ago Massachusetts changed the law to allow passing on the right – because the then Governor was tooling along in the fast lane about 5 mph below the posted limit and somebody got tired of it and pulled around him. That was possibly the only intelligent thing Mass. lawmakes did in the last half of the 20th century.
Strangely, the Mas. State Police troopers who pulled the guy for passing on the right never cited the Gov’s driver for that wonderful catch-all motor vehicle offense of “driving as to endanger”. I guess when it’s the Governor they actually believed that causing a mile+ long backup does not in any way endanger anybody.
The governor wasn’t speeding. The STATE TROOPER driving his SUV was speeding. So yeah, the dispatchers decided it would be pretty silly to dispatch one state trooper to pull over another state trooper who was on the job.
Generally law enforcement gets a free pass when it comes to speeding. Personally I don’t have a problem with that, as long as they aren’t being reckless.
Above the law. Nice to see that the article beat me to pointing out how the Corzinehole did the same thing.
It’s been said that the ’60’s were really about denouncing the “holier than thou” crowd. Well, guess who’s “holier than thou” these days. Die hippie scum, die.

So, I’m curious…just what does boot polish taste like?

Prolly about the same as tinfoil. That’s why I try to refrain from hyperbole — in either direction.

That is half the problem! Why do they get to do something for free when the rest of us peeons take it in the neck for doing the same thing? I’m not saying we should be speeding… I am saying that punishment or penalty should be equal across the board. Not having a problem with that becomes not having a problem with them searching your house because they feel like it. It happens rather quickly at that. They are no better than the rest of us. I believed that when I was a police officer and I believe it now. For your information… Driving 90 miles an hour on any road with a posted speed limit of 70 is one (1) MPH away from reckless driving in any of our 50 states. I would be willing to wager the reported speed of “90 MPH” was rounded down from “somewhere in the 90 MPH range”. It was reckless to drive at that rate of speed. The trooper driving was guilty of that. Period. The Gov is not at fault here as long as he didn’t threaten the troopers job if he didn’t drive that fast. Let’s stop giving law enforcement a pass when they do something wrong. THAT is exactly what leads to them doing other things that they shouldn’t, like BS no knock warrants, killing civilians, shooting two women in a truck because they “might” be a rampaging former police officer even though they look nothing like him and neither did their truck, searching your home/vehicle because they feel like it… See the pattern. Give them an inch and they’ll take your Rights! Tolerating those who don’t tolerate us makes me very intolerant.

Touche, salesman. Touche.
Maybe Mayor McCheese and his driver the Frisco Kid had just shot at two women in truck and were en route to kill civilians in a no knock warrant. And afterwards? Free slurpees at the 7-11. Street Kings.
