Hidden is better than moderately secured, in my opinion, having had guns stolen from a worthlessly insecure Stack-On “locker” while others hidden in a tool box remained unfound and unstolen.
Had a friend who installed a similar (but smaller, maybe half as high) size ‘tween-the-studs-safe in the bedroom closet for her jewelry a couple of months ago. Her _husband_ still isn’t aware it’s there. . . (No, she didn’t tell him — he would have insisted on installing it himself, and he’s, well, “not good with tools”. )
I keep a decoy lockbox in a drawer, containing a 5 lb dumbbell. It’s not bolted down, so I figure the local smash and grab miscreants would rather take the whole thing to open at their leisure, rather than waste time prying it open on site.
IllTemperedCur:
FWIW, a work associate had his house broken into while he was out of town last weekend. They ransacked the place and found his lockbox, pried it open and found credit cards, social security card, passport, etc. Incredibly, ALL of it was left. Apparently they were smart enough not to take any immediately incriminating evidence with them.

I’m liking them for the Mountain Redoubt we’re moving-to. Also I’m thinking of building a concealed door/passageway.

Does that mean that you mount them with MOLLE Bolts?
