In catching up on my blog reading after a week of fun in the sun
Tell me if I missed anything important but here’s the stuff I have shit to say about:
42 year old minor drug offense, can’t buy a 22LR rifle
Those vigilantes should never have taken the law into their own hands.
Now you can bear arms in the post office parking lot.
We didn’t brand it that. It is that.

The news isn’t that we did or didn’t brand it a false-flag operation. The news is that the media noticed.

About that guns in the Post Office parking lot story; as it turns out no you can’t is what needs to be said about it.
See: 39 CFR Part 232.1(l), which reads as follows:
Weapons and explosives. No person while on postal property may carry firearms, other dangerous or deadly weapons, or explosives, either openly or concealed, or store the same on postal property, except for official purposes.
This particular court ruling addresses issues peculiar to a specific Post Office in Avon, Colorado and no other. Until the appeal has been ruled on there is no change to the controlling federal law referenced above anywhere else in the US.

This was an enlightening post for me, down here in Texas.
I’ve taken CHL class 2x (8 years ago and 3 years ago) and did not know/recall the parking lot of the US Post Offices were out of bounds for firearms in my vehicle.
Thanks for the warning!

“(2) Whoever shall be found guilty of violating the rules and regulations in this section while on property under the charge and control of the Postal Service is subject to fine of not more than $50 or imprisonment of not more than 30 days, or both. ”
The fine is less than that for inattentive driving. The same regulation prohibits spitting on the parking lot, having your dog in the back of the pickup, littering, taking a picture with your cell phone without permission, entering the lot with an expired license, etc.
While other federal law prohibits firearms in the buildings, it’s a minor offense outside. I wouldn’t get too worked up about it.

Ah, Don, but it is a violation of a “firearms law”, therefor could be used in many areas as an excuse to yank your state pemission slip.

Geodkyt,
Fortunately i live in a semi-free state where that wouldn’t happen. My risk assessment would be different in, say, Illinois.
