No, *especially* on the internet. If you say stupid shit even in a crowd probably only a few people will hear it, and once it’s said it pretty much disappears unless someone repeats it.
On the internet an incredibly large number of people *May* hear/see it, and some percentage of these at least are busybodies, and what you posted *never* really goes away.
So, it’s way more likely that saying stupid shit on the internet will get you into trouble.

If nobody said stupid sh!t on the internet, there’d be about 1/100,000 of the current content.
And the New York Times web page would be largely blank.
