That is the logical end-state of anti-gunnery, but the Left is cannier than that. They don’t care if you retain the desire and moral fortitude to use lethal force, and the desire to do so. If you’re held in check by fear of what will happen to your and yours in the aftermath, they are satisfied. See Zimmerman.
When the only option you have to protect yourself is the police state via 911, you’re much more receptive to making that instrument even more powerful. That’s the long game. See the NSA.

Yet, oddly enough, it is perfectly OK to kill an unborn child up to the moment it is ready to pop out of the mother.
And, of course, if you can’t defend your own life or the lives of others, you certainly should not think that you can even argue about anything else the government requires of you.
Once we’ve gotten that pesky self-preservation instinct under control, getting everyone to head toward utopia will be as easy as loading a cattle car.
