Yeah, but they don’t share it, dumbass
The NRA compiles a list of gun owners. Or, you know, members. Idiot.

And the NRA has neither mandate nor authority to use that information to restrict the constitutional liberties of Americans.
As opposed to the Department of Justice, which uses every piece of information it can find about you, to punish you.

As a former annual member of the NRA (like a lot of people, I suspect) I consider myself sort of an auxiliary member, or perhaps a part-time member.

Well, they certainly *do* share it with the organization that *I* most fear: the U.S. government. The government “knows” about *every* piece of mail posted and about most phone calls and emails. And to the degree the NRA *uses* those lists for any of those purposes, the government “knows” the content of the lists.

I took an opportunity to convey, to the author of this drivel, the concept of “marketing”. I don’t think he grasped it. Of course, he probably was less inclined to listen after I called him an asshat.

I had the same initial reaction, and much of the point still holds, but the article specifically states that the list includes non-members.
