I don’t know that it’s so much Kool-aid, it’s more that the M&P is a better gun. I choose it for my duty gun, for one simple reason. I shot better scores with the M&P. The 4th gen Glock is really a flop (I do own a gen4 G17). Glock really did not listen to it’s market. Smith and Wesson did listen and built the gun that the LE market wanted, and they did it for the same or less than that of the Glock.
But let’s ask the important Kool-Aid questions, such as “If the Kool-Aid mascot was real, and it just busted a hole in your wall, which personnel defense weapon would be best to take it down?”
Ah, I have shot a LOT of Glocks and actually sat through the Armorer class on the Gen 3. I have carried an M&P for over two years now retiring a Colt Commander from that duty. Bottom line, it works. Period.
When I bought my first handgun, I had very little experience with them. I bought an M&P 9mm, because it felt right, and for me, it was most consistent and accurate. I was able to disassemble and clean the firearm out of the box with no classes, and I installed some APEX aftermarket items with no problem. In the department of “user friendly”, the M&P has been awesome. Their R&D has been a boon to Newbs like me. I want to have the damn things babies.
Meh, I’m kind of upset that my federal tax dollars probably made it to this department in the way of a grant to fund this purchase (or something else — money is fungible…).
I don’t like my tax dollars going to support LE agencies in the extreme ban states anymore. It makes me feel uncomfortable to think that I paid for one of those M&Ps to be used on a peaceable gun owner. 🙁
I also think it is BS that S&W sells regular mags to these agencies. They should ship them with neutered 10 rounders like the citizenry get. Heck, if they’re selling M&Ps without microstamping bullshittery or guns that aren’t on the Cali “safe list” (i.e. civilian legal) I think it is BS.

On the upside, the M&P is awesome.

You people are awful. I’m an admitted S&W fanboy, and I’m sure the M&P is perfect for the purposes LACSO will put it to.
Such as firing it into the air at campgrounds when you get into a dispute with another sheriff’s deputy.
