Of course, the court would have felt better had her husband beaten her to death. No assault with a deadly weapon on cheesy grounds, just a regular everyday domestic violence based murder of a woman with a baby.
Next time don’t talk, shoot. Him, dummy, not the overhead.
She was out on bail for a domestic abuse charge, prohibited from possessing a firearm, and broke her bail restrictions by going to the house and making contact with her husband. The warning shot was largely a non-issue in her conviction.
She’s NOT a victim of the system here, she’s the criminal perpetrator. EVEN if you accept nothing but the publically relaesed info plus HER statements.

I don’t think that’s the best case to base a new law on, but she still shouldn’t have got 20 years.

There is a fundamental philosophical difference between a warning shot and a clean miss.
The law needs to recognize that difference, if it can define it beyond reasonable doubt.
