The law is an ass
People in flood-torn Colorado had to move their guns to family and friends’ houses. This violates Colorado’s new gun control laws about transfer of firearms. So, they could be prosecuted.

Bloomberg’s legislation was intended to have these effects.

Government prosecution by whim and fancy.
If *your* emergency dosen’t meet their standard, you’re fooked.
Sounds like a perfect system.

So how is this selectively enforcement of the law any different than not enforcing the law on the friends of the powerful? Repeal it!

Not going to enforce it?
Isn’t that benevolent of them…..

The government prosecutes with lawyers, some people prosecute with bullets.

This type of situation actually keeps me awake at nights.
You see, I live in a bushfire prone area … and should I need to evacuate my guns come with me – however, according to the law my handguns may only be transported between my residence and the gun range; my residence and a police station and my residence and a gunsmith (or is it gun dealer?).
If I evacuate out of the area and don’t go to one of these destinations I’m in trouble š (BTW Gun range also in bush fire prone area not far from where I live, so while that may sound the best option it is probably not). (Local police station not open at nights nor are gun dealers). What to do?

When you are, or are not, a felon based on the decision of a prosecutor rather than the law itself, there is really no law, just power.

The character Blanche DuBois in Tennessee Williams’ 1947 play “Streetcar Named Desire” famously said “I have always depended on the kindness of strangers.” It is terrible that the citizens of any state have to rely on selective non-prosecution of unjust laws to be free from government tyranny in their lives. Those unjust laws need to be revoked, not selectively non-prosecuted.
