Out of curiosity
How many of the Spite House’s cuts target red states? This one, for instance. And quite a lot of the park closing are in red states.

Look at a map of Federally owned lands. Most of the red state West is actually owned by the Feds and much of that is park lands.
For comparison, Alaska is about 65% Federally owned, Illinois only about 7%, and Delaware about 3%.
The whole “red states take more in taxes than they give canard” is given the lie by those numbers and simple logistics. Not only is most of the West locked up and thus not able to produce revenue for those states (and indirectly for Federal taxes), but the logistics of providing Federal services is much more expensive in the West due to distances, climate, and lack of population density. For instance, a mile of Fed highway in Alaska probably costs 10x or more than the same mile in Illinois to build and maintain.
Since the Feds are obligated to provide the same services to all Americans regardless of local cost, and the blue state, big gov’t liberals want the Feds to provide every-damn-thing to every-damn-body, those blue state, big gov’t Eastern libs can’t bitch with any intellectual or moral integrity about the West “taking more than it gives.” Their policies -created- the situation in the first place.
