Where do you get your news?

Looks like legacy media is fading.

All my mom does is watch propaganda from MSNBC. 5 hours a day, every day and then the local news when MSNBC shows a ‘newscaster’ she doesn’t watch.

I have two thoughts on this: 1) Are the Gen-Xers and Millenials being turned off by the obvious bias? I know that’s what got me away from watching the news, and I used to watch at least 3-4 hours of TV news every day; and B) I find this particularly amusing as some places try to cram more and more “news” down our throats. Fifteen years ago there was CNN and morning, noon, evening, and late night 1/2- 1-hour news programs. Now we have FOX News, MSNBC, HLN, and other 24-hour news networks, and at least one local station went from a morning news program that ran from 5am-8am, then 4a-8am, then 4a-9a, now it runs from 4a-10a (and then their noon news runs 12p-1p!). So we have a ton of news News NEWS!! options but no one is watching.

I keep trying to wean my mom off the legacy media and get her into healthier stuff, but she’s 85 and doesn’t get the online thing very well. Our big local paper used to be pretty good, but it was bought out by Gannet, so it’s a worthless rag now. Had a guy trying to sell it to me; I didn’t want to feel a need to buy a birdcage just to have something to line with it.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
