Acquitted
When we last heard about Nick Finch, it was because he released a man who had no permit to carry but who was caught carrying citing his duty to uphold the constitution. He was then charged with misconduct for destroying records. Well, a jury acquitted him.

The most interesting part of this is that the Sheriff had legal discretion not to charge a felony. Yes, I know cops are free to turn a blind eye to anything anyplace, but this was made official in the Sheriff’s court case.

Destruction of documents, or illegitimate alteration thereof, is the felony equivalent of a cop arresting you for disorderly conduct for, well, anything.
I knew a college admin assistant who got 3 years probation for trying to document legally his perfectly legal purchases of alcohol for a college department’s annual faculty party.
