Gun control works so well
DC has all the gun control in the US. Yet, their shot spotter picked up nearly 40,000 gun shots. Also, it doesn’t pick up every shot.

I’m thinking some high-spirited yoots with a few packs of firecrackers could give a shot-spotter a nervous breakdown.

I’m with Rickn8or; a little combustion engineering should be able to produce a firecracker that almost perfectly mimics common gunfire. I can envision the fun of driving past the sensors (there must be a map of them someplace), throwing strings of firecrackers out one car window and handfuls of range brass out the other. Three or four more firecrackers than pieces of brass should keep them busy for a while.

Unless they buried it deep in the story, they claim shot spotter is “Helpful to law enforcement”. But don’t actually cite arrests or improvement to public safety.
I know Massachusetts paid through the nose to install thise fancy fraud and it has done exactly jack crap.

They say that the system allows them to get out of their car and find shell casings or a victim. Which means that they are just there for the cleanup, as usual.

Gets them to the right street corner more quickly and accurately than before, because when 3 or 5 blocks report a gunfight to 911 it is a bit confusing.
I hold on DC the opinion I held while living in Baltimore. There has to be an element of police corruption to allow things to get as bad as they are in the high crime areas. Even the Keystone Cops could ID and arrest gang members involved in crime, otherwise.

They have that in my neighborhood, too. I realllly want to know how it performs, it’s level of tolerances, etc.
There was another article on this tech that claims it can distinguish if the shooter left on foot or car. So I’d imagine it’s always on.

I was just thinking “shoot & scoot”, but I like all the deception tactics!

40,000 shots?
How many arrest?
