Never ceases to amaze me that the general public continue to see the police as firearm experts when most of them, unfortunately, know less about guns than the general public.
More unfortunately and disturbingly so, most couldn’t shoot their way out of a wet paper bag, never practicing at a range until a few days before they have to qualify every year.
I don’t like that it’s this way, but as an instructor at a major range in Memphis I can tell you that it is.
Now, like everything else, this isn’t true of all LEO as there are officers who take firearm training seriously. Sadly the percentage that do is far to small.

And if the officer actually had shot someone, what are the odds that the only person charged would’ve been Bob?

Bob was a knucklehead for packing a loaded weapon.
Officer Fife was a bigger knucklehead.
Bob was no doubt sorry for his actions, I doubt Officer Fife was.

I would classify such .gov’s under the heading of “Shitheads”.

“Shitheads” = You are not allowed to be that stupid, and therefore, are fired.
