AF2011-A1 double barrel Pistol
The double-barreled 1911 is apparently a real thing. And on sale soon.

I was under the impression that any weapon firing multiple rounds per trigger pull would be classified as a full auto. Have the ATF made a decision on the legality of this weapon? I’d hate to find myself being a test case after spending that much money on the weapon.

Steve has my question. Or does it qualify because there are two triggers, one for each barrel? Otherwise a side-by-side shotgun that could fire both barrels by pulling both triggers would also be a “machine gun” under ATF rules.

Unless they’ve changed the design, it is ONE trigger, firing TWO shots simultaneously. Therefor, I’d really be interested in knowing how ATFE got around the plain language of the definition of a machinegun.

Forget the legal wrangling about ATF’s definitions.
I see this two barrel 1911 as the second point in a trend line that will extend identically to that of the mutliple-blade disposable razor design wars.
I want my 5 barreled 1911, and I want it NOW!

I played with one of these at SHOT last year – apparently they were originally intended as a proof of concept only, to showcase the company’s manufacturing capability. Yes, it is a single trigger firing two shots – I asked them about the ATF issue and they said it wasn’t a problem, but did not give me all the gory details.
Here’s the potential concern I see: when you have one good round and one hangfire. One round firing will not fully cycle the action, but it will unlock it.
