How veddy curiously British of them: they included all those failed attempts and non-presidents, but skipped Garfield and McKinley. They have a thing about Ohio.
Their heads of state are never ever shot. There’s the headman’s axe, of course, but also smothering, drowning in a sewer, burning down the castle, and the very telling red-hot poker. Plus a euthanasia. Sophisticated.

I remember Squeaky Fromme’s failure to fire. As reported at the time, Ford wasn’t shot ONLY because Squeaky didn’t know she had to chamber a round before pulling the trigger.
She was quoted as saying upon her arrest “It didn’t go off!” as if that minor detail somehow made her actions not quite so illegal, or you know, just a bit of a lark.
Manson and his followers were some messed up folks.
