Hunting doomed?
A look at the reaction of the lion hunting incident from hunters. Yeah, hunters should probably work on marketing. With bonus quote of the day from Clayton Cramer:
Whenever I run into a Fudd, I remind them of one really ugly fact: most of us “extremists” are trying to defend gun rights because of self-defense. If the right to protect yourself from a murderer, rapist, or robber isn’t sufficient reason to own a gun, what makes you think that having a gun for entertainment is going to be a good enough reason?

Especially when your entertainment is killing Simba. You don’t hate Simba, do you?

Clayton has a way of putting obvious truths into simple language for those who do not have any insight for the obvious (In high school my friends and I used to insult each other with “you have a keen insight for the obvious.” I’ve since learned that such insights are actually quite rare, particularly in leftist circles.).

Windy and Clayton miss the motivation of anti’s. Their fear comes from the empathy they have for others. They believe that if you can drop the hammer on a living thing you can do it to them.
The same empathy makes them unable to defend themselves and makes them a victim… so eliminating guns reduces the violence they could be subjected to.
It doesn’t matter to them if it is a lion, deer or person… to them it is them.
Your can’t win an emotion based argument with logic.

Also hunting guns can still be used for murder, suicide, and deadly accidents.
When the only argument FOR guns is shooting ducks and deer for food in a nation with an obesity problem, then the argument for banning ALL guns is a pretty sound one.
And when you can own a handgun and rifle for self-defense, what’s the harm in collecting oddities, and shooting ducks and deer?
One idea is a threat to all, one is a threat to none. Never do you see a High-and-Tight covered in MOLLE gear, and the $4,000 AR with 6lbs of crap hanging off of it, calling for a ban on O/U trap guns, or deer rifles.

“If the right to protect yourself from a murderer, rapist, or robber isn’t sufficient reason to own a gun, what makes you think that having a gun for entertainment is going to be a good enough reason?”
It’s a right guaranteed by the Constitution. That’s the only reason/justification needed.
