College football musing

Alabama will still stomp a team that starts with the letter O, only in the wrong bowl game.

It’s a guilty pleasure of mine. I like it. Saturdays with friends, food and drink. Auburn is one of the luckiest teams on earth. They got lucky against Georgia and again against Alabama. Not on the last play. Lining up for a return was brilliant. They got lucky because Alabama’s kicker, who never misses, missed 9 field goal points. Ordinarily, I’d call any championship game for the SEC team. They’re just a better conference. Period. But with the luck factor in Auburn, I’m not so sure they can best FSU. Probably but I have my doubts.

Also, two years in the SEC conference and Mizzou played for the championship? Well-played.

In the last two weeks, the whole season changed. People were shaking their heads. Some were upset. But changes, luck and miracle plays are the reason people watch the game.

You don’t rack up nearly 300 rushing yards on the best rush defense in the SEC on “luck”. Also, Cade Foster, Alabama’s kicker, is also the one who missed three against LSU in 2011, causing Alabama to lose that game as well.

Also, the miracle touchdown against Georgia wouldn’t have been needed if the refs had called Aaron Murray’s last touchdown correctly. (HINT: He didn’t cross the plane of the goal line before his knee hit the ground.)

One of my fellow Missouri fans posted over at rockmnation.com’s thread on the MU/Auburn SEC Championship game shortly after it ended: “Stuck in traffic outside the stadium and Tre Mason ran past my car. They still haven’t stopped that sumbitch.”

Yeah, I think FSU’s gonna have their hands full with that Auburn rushing attack. I’ll be rooting for ’em. Well, except for the guy who ran Henry Josey into the cart; I hope that frakker breaks both his knees.

As for Mizzou, well, I’m a bit disappointed that we didn’t win the SEC Championship, but after the disastrous, injury-ridden debut season we had last year, winning the SEC East and a Cotton Bowl berth in 2013 ain’t what I’d call a bad year, by any stretch of the imagination…

Went to the game with three of my buddies. Getting to see them was nice. The game itself wouldn’t have been much fun even if we’d won, though. They really abuse the PA in that place, and if I never have to hear their goddamned fight song played over it again, I’ll be perfectly happy.

    Anyway, fuck auburn.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
