The law means nothing in Chicago
Cook County will deny concealed carry permits. Another lawless Chicago politician, I am shocked.

It’s not a whole lot different from the sheriffs in Colorado that say they’ll refuse to enforce new gun legislation. Well, except that those sheriffs are upholding well-established, Constitutionally protected inalienable rights, and Cook County is denying them. But other than that… 😉

I think I understand this sheriff. He wants plausible deniability if something bad happens. My bet is he will object to nearly all the permits and the state police will be forced to ignore him and issue them. That way if there is any blowback the sheriff will say to the chicago politicians; I tried to stop them, go rip them a new asshole instead of me.

Are we really surprised? I’m not… And I’m betting they will dig until they find ‘something’ on damn near every application!

Sheriff Dart’s plan is to issue a “blanket” objection that covers known gangbangers, and anyone who’s been arrested for DV or gun crimes.
Sheriff Dart should know that “arrested” isn’t the same as “guilty” or even “convicted.”
He also should know that the law doesn’t permit blanket objections, and the Illinois State Police have said so in public.
Finally, if applicants in Cook County have objections filed regarding their applications, there’s a review board and hearing process available for redress.
