This is already the law
TN, generally, has preemption with respect to firearms law. Now, the legislature wants super dooper preemption: As introduced, declares that the general assembly occupies the whole field of regulation of firearms, ammunition, components of firearms or ammunition, or combinations thereof, prohibiting local regulation.
Gee, I wonder what brought this on? Oh, yeah.

What BenC said. Since we enacted that here in Florida, the muni governments have folded when first chewed on. In some cases, it does take someone to send a letter to the muni attorney. But, if that’s all it takes…

Personal payment of fines by office holders violating the law tends to take the fun out of flipping off the legislature & citizenry.
