Saving liberalism
Interesting: The libertarian revolution is being slowed by social conservatives, who are saving liberalism.
Gay marriage being a big issue.
Could be. I’d advise any serious republican contender to maybe not emphasize the social con shtick too much.

So you advise them to be like every other politician and lie to us? Thanks….

Republicans won’t abandon the social conservative agenda, if they did, they would have to talk about things like smaller government or balanced budgets. And exactly when have Republicans been in favor of smaller government? Reagan? He was the one who started the borrow and spend frenzy. Nixon? Dept of Ed. and EPA. Bush 2? Prescription drug entitlement.
If Republicans drop the social conservative act, they will have to admit they aren’t that different from Democrats.
Besides a lot of them really do hate gays.

What debt limit? Actual tax PAYERS aren’t good enough?
There seems to be some confusion between the phrases “GOP Republican” and “Conservative”.
Try not to let it happen again.

If the GOP started acting like small government included not telling people who they can love, then they might as well stop calling themselves the “party of stupid.”
Democrats: government sized to take your wallet
Republicans: government sized to fit in your bedroom
Don’t like either of them.

If Repubs didn’t stick their privates into the meat grinder of social issues every election, people might notice the Dems aren’t doing so well governing.
So “get a stupid sound bite” is a game reporters love to play with Repubs.
And since the Repubs aren’t all that keen to tell 50+ percent of the electorate that cutting their government checks is the only path to less government, stupid sound bites are actually preferred by a good many elected Repubs.

In VA, the GOP ensured that their gubernatorial candidate STFU on abortion. The War on Women direct mailers just said. “Cuccinelli won’t say anything about abortion because he has ‘a secret plan’ that he won’t reveal”

Republicans could help themselves by supporting the “guarantee of a republican form of government” mandated in Article IV, Section 4, which also guarantees that “the States be protected against invasion”. And so, start cutting hundreds of billions the budget by NOT unconstitutionally intervening in undeclared wars while our own country is allowed to be invaded and by ending ALL foreign aid.
