No true scotswoman
In Scotland, a suit has been won claiming that the police issued Glocks are too big for female officers’ hands and that is sexual discrimination. I shit you not. Why, it’s as though men and women might be differently sized.
And from the layers of editorial oversight department, that’s one interesting looking “Glock” as a stock photo.

I was expecting a picture of a webley, oh well.

The picture failed to load for me, but it did reveal that the file name is Browning-9mm.jpg. It’s like they didn’t even try.

There was a suit by female FBI agents a couple decades back that was essentially the same thing, except the guns were S&W revolvers.
IIRC, the women won.

Rob,
Wasn’t that suit after the Feebs went to the 1076 in response to the Miami shootout?
The DA trigger reach on the big Smiths is long even for my hands.

It’s the right caliber, it’s a semi-automatic, it’s black. That’s as close as we can hope to come nowadays.

A Webley would make an interesting qualification piece.
A Gabbett-Fairfax Webley-Mars.
“That’s all right, Miss. Use both hands.”
No one who fired once wished to shoot it again.

That’s the elusive hi-power Glock, its 100% Ceramic and it costs more than you make in a year!

Hire. Bigger. Women.

In that my other half hails from Belfast, N.I., it follows that her niece is an officer on the Northern Ireland Police Service (N.I.P.S.) <— how embarrassing izzat?
They too, carry the Glock 17, but she had no problem in terms of size. What she did have a problem with, is through the academy, the entire course of fire, from familiarization, to training & practice and on to qualifying, was only 275 rounds. In all. Total. That's IT.
She tells of nightmare PC stories on the job, in training, and the worst, in the department admin.
I spent many hours on the phone, coaching her through dry-fire, and un-doing much of the damage her "instructors" had instilled.
They're now required to carry the Glock 26 when off-duty, so I just sent her a Blackhawk holster as a quick fix, to be followed with a Crossbreed Supertuck, a Galco IWB and a good concealment purse.
What I'm really wanting to do, is to get her here Stateside, and invest in her via a good and solid 3 day course at a good shooting school or recognized instructor.
She's already survived one bomb attack, meant specifically to take her and her two partner's lives. The bomb was well made, but fortunately, the attackers didn't know how to properly emplace the device, so it's blast effect missed the trio by only 15'.
They're not nice over there, they play for keeps, and they don't play by any known rules. Glock 17, hell…. a 12 ga minigun might be more fitting!

Those hills are bare now,
And Autumn leaves lie thick and still
O’er a land that is lost now,
By those so dearly held
Who stood against them,
Proud Edwards army,
And sent them hameward
Tae think again.
Those days are past now,
And in the past they must remain.
But we can still rise now
And be that nation again
That stood against them…
We’re bought and sold with English gold,
Such a parcel of rogues in a nation.

I made the mistake of glancing at the comments, and saw: There hands were to small, more like they couldn’t take the recoil of a .45cal round.
Ah, yes, the .45 caliber Glock 17.
Must be a special edition for Scotland?

Well of course: elsewhere, hands are much larger.
😉

If you can’t use the tools of the job, then you are not qualified for the job.
February 19th, 2014 at 6:13 pm
Unless there are other perfectly suitable tools that are exactly the same except they fit your hands better.
