Depends if it’s a real AK-47 or not. Given he was a big boss, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was; I would think that the neutered semi-auto ATF-walked ones were given to lower-level henchmen. Remember, the drug cartels sourced their weapons from way more places than just the US, and most of their heavier equipment probably came in from countries south of Mexico or from the Mexican army.

I am pretty sure the Mexican drug dealers have access to Machines shops and gun parts. A few minutes and voila presto chango.

I bet only the plebes get the semi-auto welfare AKs from Gunwalker.
The big bosses get the ones with the giggle switches, which likely come from China or South America.
