American soldiers on patrol in the Iraq countryside come across a man and his wife walking down a dirt road. The woman is 20 feet behind the man. Curious, one soldier asks, “Sir, why is your wife walking so far behind you?” The Iraqi says, “Tradition”. The next day, the same patrol sees the same couple walking along in a different part of the area. This time, the woman is walking 50 feet in front of the man. The same soldier asks, “Sir, yesterday I asked you why your wife was walking behind you and you said “Tradition”. But today she is walking in front of you. Why is that?” And the Iraqi says, “Land mines”.
