@SenDougOverbey votes against gun rights. Again.

The revised guns in parks bill has passed the senate. And Doug Overbey with his “effective, conservative leadership” has once again voted against civil liberties. This guy needs to go.

And any of you guys who do the wikipedia thing should adjust his page there to reflect that.

He’s early in his second term. I’ll be working to see him gone.

You yankees with your sophisticated snow-removal tools. And your skis and sleds and shovels and things we southern rednecks don’t have. But, hey, we do have a four wheeler and a kayak:

Man, where do people keep getting these waivers. I could use some. Like a tax waiver.

A Civil Rights Victory

The ninth circuit has ruled against may issue (usually may not) carry in California. Seems that having to show good cause violates the second amendment.

Knife Blogging

Tam has a post over at ShootingIllustrated with a handy tip. I’d never seen the wave before and found this video on how it works:

Slow motion at 0:36.

Cool, I thought. I must have one. So I ordered one here pretty cheap.

SC passes restaurant carry

In NH, Mayors Against Guns fails to get a universal background check bill by a huge margin. But 90%, they lied.

What a stupid bill

A bill in TN to allow business owners to turn away homosexuals. Personally, I think a business should be able to serve or not serve whoever they want for any reason they want. The market will sort it out. But having laws that prohibit that and then specifically allowing such discrimination to apply to a specific group is pretty disgusting.

Can you spot the sniper in these photos? I found him a couple of times but not before he could have gotten off a shot.

Disable man sues over assault weapons ban in CT

And his case will continue:

A New London judge has let a disabled man continue his lawsuit seeking to overturn the state’s new gun law limiting assault weapon ownership.

Scott Ennis, of New London, has a bleeding condition that causes him severe joint damage and says he needs to use weapons that have features, such as a forward pistol grip, that the law says make them assault weapons.

Well, I hear those forward grips are dangerous!

Suppressor laws abroad

For all the PSH that comes from where Great Britain Used To Be, they’re pretty good on suppressor laws.

Home Made Bumpfire Stock

From arfcom a bit back. Compared to $350 for a Slidefire stock, this one was made from some washers and sheet metal.

Does it work? Well, video:

Dispatch from snowmageddon

Well, we’re hunkered down and bracing for the possible 9 inches of global warming we may get. 9 inches being an amount of snow that likely exceeds snowfall for the last 10 years. We have plenty of milk, bread and toilet paper. Oh, and whisky. It’s important.

Stay safe out there.

More thoughts on the 9mm takeover

Since mention of the takeover, I’ve been thinking about why. Obviously, it’s because ammo tech has advanced but why so much for the 9mm? My guess is due to the expiration of the assault weapons ban. Prior to 1994, magazines that held more than 10 rounds were at a premium. And then post 2004, that wasn’t an issue. During that decade, if you bought a carry gun, you may as well get a .45. It’s going to be the same size and only hold ten rounds. Ten bigger rounds. And people did that. Heck, I did.

Well, with more 11+ 9mm magazines that are more affordable, the market responded.

Rule # . . . err, I know gun rules. What are the rules for bomb safety?

Good:

A group of Sunni militants attending a suicide bombing training class at a camp north of Baghdad were killed on Monday when their commander unwittingly conducted a demonstration with a belt that was packed with explosives, army and police officials said.

Saving liberalism

Interesting: The libertarian revolution is being slowed by social conservatives, who are saving liberalism.

Gay marriage being a big issue.

Could be. I’d advise any serious republican contender to maybe not emphasize the social con shtick too much.
