I note that the requirement to bring in a “good cause statement” when interviewed is still listed in the sheriff’s online instructions for obtaining a carry permit, and that the article notes the continued existence of the “good moral character” requirement in law.
Interesting. 16 hours of training required for initial application, 4 hours required for renewal applications. CCW permit holders’ identity and “other information from the application” is public information and may be disclosed under the Public Records Act. Permit applicants must demonstrate proficiency with the exact make, model and serial number (!) of the weapon that they intend to carry (3 weapons max), which will be listed on their CCW permit; carrying anything else immediately invalidates the CCW permit. Applicant must sign two separate Hold Harmless/Indemnification agreements. The form talks a lot about renewals, but I do not see it mention anything about how long the CCW permits are valid or when they expire.

Sure, the law changed, but why let people actually know that on one’s website?

And looking further, the “good cause” requirement is still listed under the “Permit Process” and “Requirements” pages of the sheriff’s website.
One small step forward, three out of four website pages standing athwart history screaming “NO!”
