Unlike children, guns should be heard and not seen

In Nashville, a couple of Moms who demand action decided they’d have a sit down with Rep. Rick Womick. During that meeting, he whipped out his gun and put it on his desk. I guess they got the message because they complained and the house speaker had to remind the reps that going heeled in the capitol is illegal. Unless you’re law enforcement, which Rep Womick claims to be.

I bet they shit themselves right then and there.

What a douchebag. What possible positive effect for gun rights did he think that could accomplish? Look, I like sticking it to anti-gunners as much as the next guy but most of the time it is just ego-stroking, we are not going to shame or ridicule them into changing their minds nor are we likely to reason them into it either.

But that doesn’t matter, our battle is not to convert them, but rather to sway the undecided non-ideological middle we need on our side or neutral as we expand gun rights step by step.

We do not win those people’s hearts and minds by being dicks in public. Every profanity, every “tree of liberty” tee-shirt smartly matched with torn cammies and a slung AR, every strident “what part of shall not be infringed…!”, and, yes, every “because, fuck you” is actively counter-productive to that goal.

So stop, just stop. Everything is public, the hostile press will publicize every misstep, why fucking hand them outright douchebaggery on a platter? Be reasonable and calm and the anti’s will go from zero to mouth-foaming in minutes on their own. Let Ma and Pa Kettle see that instead. Make the press have to stretch to spin our reasonableness, The Kettle’s will see right through that and not grant them credibility in the future.

For fuck’s sake, if the idea is to -win- this battle we have to fight smart and stop punching our own cause in the nuts all the time.

    Two things:

First, he’s probably a special deputy.

Second, holy crap I know that lady. Went to school with her son. So that mom demanding action is worried about her 35 year old son.

Yeah, I know. I just like the saying.

  6. Paul Kisling Says:

Actually Matthew it seems like you enjoy sticking it to pro gunners more.
I am sure those “MOTHERS” would approve of your bitching.

  7. JDRush Says:

Per the linked article he claims it was an empty holster, not a gun. Hell, it might have been a pop tart for all I trust anti gun demanding mommies.

    Paulo,

Nice ad hom not addressing anything substantive.

Glad to have you on my side.

  9. Paul Kisling Says:

Matthew, your entire drunken rant was ad hominem, and if you would have actually done (Obama Forbid) RESEARCH you would have known he used a holster. Instead you go bitching and moaning how its the pro gunners fault that all bad things happen. Linoge would love you.

Remember, I do this to entertain me, not you.
